Welcome to The Castle Inn
Whether new customers or old regulars, a warm welcome awaits you at The Castle Inn in St Ives,
located in historic Fore Street, parallel to the sea.
Established since c. 1840, our popular town centre pub may have originated as part of the offices of the Union Castle shipping line.
Or it may have had links to Tregenna Castle, up on the hill above St Ives
– but we’ll draw a veil over The Castle Inn’s hosting of a brothel in the mad, bad nineteenth century (so much for Victorians being prim),
despite the reputed ghost of Maud, still haunting one corner of the bar. We won’t tell you which;
you can find out for yourself when she sidles up to sit next to you...
Whatever its origins, The Castle Inn has been a favourite watering hole in St Ives for the best part of two centuries,
chosen as their preferred ‘local’ by St Ives artist luminaries such as Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Peter Lanyon,
and still as popular now with both locals and regular visitors#
A cosy, characterful traditional Real Ale pub* with exposed beams ceiling, slate floors,
a stunning stained glass window and lots of maritime nauticalia to amuse and intrigue,
we specialise in Cornish Real Ales such as Skinner's Betty Stoggs and Sennen.
We also boast the most extensive Gin Menu in St Ives, with almost 30 gins distilled in the fair county of Cornwall itself,
from powerful Tarquin’s Sea Dog Navy to St Ives’s own distillery, offering Blood Orange and Super Berry,
and a Gin Passport to get the best value and variety.
And of course we have a full range of ciders, wines (red, white, rosé and sparkling)
and soft drinks for those who have come for the friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
As for your four-legged friends, at The Castle Inn they will have the best welcome in St Ives with dog biscuits, water and plenty of love.
You, your family and your pooch are assured a true Cornish welcome at The Castle Inn.
